It's really strange and depressing how these deaths follow each other so soon. Cyd Charisse has passed away at 87. One of the iconic dancers of the last century, Charisse displayed beauty and grace while sharing the screen with titans like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Movies like Brigadoon and Silk Stockings are no classics, but her dance numbers still made them worthwhile experiences. Her presence in Nicholas Ray's Party Girl was also one of the bright spots of an otherwise uneven but oddly compelling gangster/musical hybrid. But Charisse's brilliance will be remembered for one movie above all: The Band Wagon.

Rest In Peace.
