With around three weeks to go before the release of The Dark Knight, the advertising campaign has hit full swing and reviews have started to appear online. There's no doubt Warner Bros. has done some fantastic work teasing the audience with great trailers, an IMAX prologue and a brief glimpse of Harvey Two-Face. I'm anticipating the film enormously and I have no special attachment to the source material or anything like that. The Dark Knight just looks like good filmmaking all around. No compromises, no bullshit. It looks like a genuine piece of adult escapism, a film with the class, maturity, theme and thrills of its predecessor, only double the scope and ambition.

Peter Travers has written a glowing review for Rolling Stone, and while the eye-rolling hyperbole of comparing Batman to Pacino in The Godfather Part II is best ignored, I still believe the overall enthusiasm is honest.

"The haunting and visionary Dark Knight soars on the wings of untamed imagination. It's full of surprises you don't see coming. And just try to get it out of your dreams."
