I just noticed this amazing little piece of news at the Film Forum here in New York: a 7 week Tatsuya Nakadai retrospective, including a Q & A following the screening of Harakiri and a special evening with the legendary actor that will cover his entire career. The event begins on June 20th.

The schedule is spectacular. I haven't seen Onimasa, Portrait of Hell, Age of Assassins, I am a Cat, Black River, Solar Eclipse, Tenchu (Hitokiri), Untamed, Immortal Love, Odd Obsession, or Conflagration, so this is very exciting, indeed. Films from Ichikawa, Kobayashi, Gosha, Okamoto, Naruse, Kurosawa and more.

And you get screenings of some Nakadai classics. Ran, Kagemusha, Face of Another, Harakiri, Goyokin, Yojimbo, Kwaidan, Sanjuro. It's almost too good to be true.
