It's great what you can find on youtube. Old interviews with great filmmakers from the strangest places. You can watch Scorsese discuss Kubrick, you can see Tarantino spit on reporters - it's amazing. I noticed this interview with Paul Thomas Anderson when he was promoting Magnolia.
What do you think? It's almost 10 years later and digital projection is quickly spreading across theaters in America. It's an interesting topic. I think he's right when he says film is a hypnotic and wonderful experience, and to lose that would be a small death for movies in a way. But I also wonder how he feels about this issue all these years later. Films like Youth Without Youth, Zodiac and Speed Racer have amazing clarity in digital theaters, beautiful and rich, they create an entirely new cinematic experience. It's tough to argue against it.
